Occasionally we get a request about changing the bandplan in the AOR8000 scanner. We can replace the bandplan with one that was shipped in EUROPEAN scanners... meaning there are no "gaps" in the 800 MHZ bands. As far as receiving CellPhones.... since everything is now 100% digital, it wouldn't matter if is or is not "open", as all you can now hear is a digital kind of razzing noise on those frequencies.

BUT, if you own our Scancat-gold for Windows, this is still built into the software. And, here are the steps.

1 - Go to the SETUPS screen
    Go to Select Radio
        and choose the AR8000

2 - Exit out to the main Splash Screen
        You will NOW see a new menu selection "EEPROM Utils"
        (Unless you select AR8000 the EEPROM menu is not visible)

3 - Pick the Third and last option "Load (BandPlan....)
and press <ACCEPT>

4 - Read the screen of instructions, and the press <ACCEPT>

5 - It will first show "Initializing", and then the screen will
start showing the "data" going to the radio

6 - When it is finished, turn off the radio, and when it is turned
back on, the 800 gaps are gone.
